Pohlman and Basierak Named to All-Tourney Team

BELOIT, Wis. - The University of Dubuque volleyball team finished 3-1 at the season opening 2013 Beloit College Buc Blast over the weekend. UD's Jen Pohlman (So., MH, West Branch, Iowa) and Klaudia Basierak (So., OH, Hainesville, Ill.) were named to the seven member All-Tourney Team for their efforts.
Pohlman finished with 17 kills, seven assisted blocks and seven defensive digs. Basierak ended the four matches with 49 digs, two service aces, 53 digs, and two block assists. The Spartans opened with a 3-1 victory over Milwaukee School of Engineering 22-25, 25-10, 25-22, 25-23. Marian University edged out a hard fought five set match 2-3 (23-25, 23-25, 25-22, 25-23, 11-15). UD swept next two matches, beating Rockford 3-2 (25-15, 25-23, 19-25, 21-25, 15-8), and blanking Findlandia 3-0 (25-11, 25-13, 25-11).
Next up for the Spartans is a tri-angular with Edgewood and UW-Oshkosh on Sept. 4 in Oshkosh, Wis.
