UD Heritage Center Open House Slated for August 4

Jul 25, 2014

Heritage Center, Dubuque’s newest performing arts venue, will host a public open house on Monday, August 4, from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. The evening will feature live entertainment, building tours, complimentary refreshments, door prize ticket giveaways, and an early opportunity to purchase individual event tickets for UD’s 2014-2015 performing and visual arts activities schedule.

Entertainment offerings will be varied. Butler Hall will feature The Kipperton String Quartet consisting of violinists Timothy Kamps and Wes Luke, violist Paul Alan Price-Brenner, and cellist Kevin Price-Brenner. The Cybercafé’s Knapp Stage will host Grace & Glory, an acoustic trio featuring recent UD graduate Tiffiney Kavars. The Palmer-Noone Lounge will showcase a video preview of all events featured on the 2014-2015 Performing Arts Series. A special family magic show will be presented in Babka Theatre featuring local magician Craig Steven.

Tour guides will be located throughout the facility to provide insights and answer questions about all areas of the facility including back-of-house operations such as the Costume and Scene Shops. Fine and Performing Arts faculty members will be on hand to meet the public. Information will also be made available about volunteer opportunities at Heritage Center. Finally, Mike & Betty’s Ice Cream Shoppe will remain open for business until 8:00 p.m.

A variety of ticket giveaways will occur throughout the evening including a grand prize of subscription series ticket package valued at $239.00. This special package includes a pair of tickets to eleven 2014-15 Live at Heritage Center performances including An Afternoon with Garrison Keillor, A Paul McCartney tribute show, The Great Gatsby, Dallas Brass, Curious George, Forbidden Broadway (revue), and more.

A benefit to attending will be the advance opportunity for area residents to buy individual event tickets in person at the box office. Those unable to attend the open house on Monday, August 4 will not be able to purchase individual tickets via phone or in-person at the box office window again until Monday, August 18. Single ticket online sales begin Wednesday, August 6.

Everyone is welcome to “experience” Heritage Center by attending this open house.
