The 10th Annual Celebration of Faculty and Staff Scholarship and Creativity

Feb 1, 2016 | Kristi Lynch

On Thursday, February 4, the Charles C. Myers Library will host the 10th Annual Celebration of Faculty and Staff Scholarship and Creativity.  The event will begin at 3:00 p.m. in the Couchman Reading Room, Charles C. Myers Library, on the University of Dubuque campus. The general public is welcome to attend.

The celebration consists of a display of faculty and staff work completed in 2015 and a brief presentation by Dr. Susan Forshey, assistant professor of discipleship and christian formation. Her talk, entitled “Practicing Modes of Inquiry and Reflection in the Classroom and Beyond: A Contemplative Pedagogy,” draws on her research interests in education, contemplative studies, cognitive studies, and the history of spirituality.

“The library enjoys bringing the UD community together to celebrate the scholarly and creative work of the entire faculty and staff. It is inspiring to view their contributions. The event serves both to congratulate contributors and to encourage those in the process creating new work,” commented Mary Anne Knefel, university librarian.

Since 2006, the UD has celebrated the scholarship and creative work of UD faculty and staff in community. Over ten years, faculty and staff have displayed a total of more than 1,300 items, including books, book chapters, journal articles, blogs, short stories, poems, paintings, and photographs. The annual bibliography includes these works plus conference presentations, concerts, plays, and other performances. Information about faculty and staff work is also available electronically at the Library’s Digital at http://digitalud.dbq.edu
