Wetherald Named UD’s First-Ever CCIW Player of the Week

Senior Kelly Wetherald was responsible for six goals in 12-11 win over Hamline in home opener on Saturday, March 12.

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Senior attack Kelly Wetherald scored a career-high five goals with one assist to lead the University of Dubuque women’s lacrosse team to a 12-11 victory over Hamline en route to UD’s first-ever CCIW Women’s Lacrosse Player of the Week.

Wetherald spread the wealth after scoring three goals in the first half and two goals in the second period as the Spartans (2-1) won their home opener over Hamline. It was her second multi-goal game of the season and second-straight after a hat trick in a 21-8 victory over Northwestern (Minn.) on February 20.

On the season, the Homer Glen, Ill. native has nine goals on a team-high 16 shots with two assists and two ground balls in three games.

Wetherald and the Spartans are back in action at home versus Concordia University-Chicago on Wednesday, March 23 at 5:00 p.m.
