#23 Men's Soccer Win in Overtime

BOX SCORE vs. Nebraska Wesleyan

LINCOLN, Neb. - The University of Dubuque #23-ranked men's soccer needed overtime to capture the road victory on Saturday over the Nebraska Wesleyan University Prairiewolves 2-1.

A defensive first half of play would finish without a score 0-0 after four shots by UD and six shots by Nebraska Wesleyan. The two teams would nearly double the output as ths hosts scored the first goal of the afternoon at 53:36. UD would knot the game at 1-1 when Noah Clarke scored the tying goal at 79:40. As time ran out, the game would stay tied at 1-1. 

Early in the first overtime, the Prairiewolves would be called for a foul in the box and Danny Daniels would score off the penalty kick to collect the game winning goal at 92:22. Luis Gallardo captured the win in goal after stopping five shots on goal. Gonzalo Hernandez Cascante led with four shots, but Daniels led with two shots on goal.

UD improved to 9-1 overall and 2-0 in the IIAC. The Spartans host the Loras College Duhawks (4-3 overall, 1-0 in IIAC) on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. under the lights of Oyen Field.
