CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The University of Dubuque and Coe College delayed the opening game of the three game series on Friday, April 14 after rain and thunderstorms scattered NE Iowa athletic competitions on Good Friday. Saturday, the Spartans dropped the first game 1-13 in seven innings, but powered their way back to hold the Kohawks scoreless in game two after a 6-0 victory at Bill Quinby Field. Both teams will make-up Friday's postponement on Monday, April 17 at 3:00 p.m.

UD was held to one run off six hits and committed four errors in the opening loss. In game two the Spartans scored six runs off 10 hits and held the Kohawks scoreless after allowing seven hits.

This week's Iowa Conference Pitcher of the Week, Chase Kueter threw a complete nine inning game and held the Kohawks scoreless. He struck out seven, walked none of the 36 batters faced and held them to seven hits. Last week he helped the Spartans sweep the three game series over Simpson after striking out 12 Storm batters and pitching eight scoreless innings.

"We executed a gameplan and my catcher Will Doherty called a great game behind the plate. It was an all around well played game with the guys behind me making plays and more importantly we got a good win."

Against the Buena Vista University Beavers Kueter pitched five scoreless innings and struck out seven in six innings.

The Kohawks tossed four pitchers in the loss and three out of the four would allow earned runs after striking out just four batters. Both teams committed two errors each.

Austin McWhite went 4-7 on the afternoon with two doubles and an RBI. Eric Hall was 4-8, scored twice and had an RBI off a homerun in the top of the seventh in game one and had a pair of doubles in game two. Thomas Kempf went 3-5 with a pair of RBI's. The Spartans left seven runner on base in game one and left eight on base in game two. UD would turn three double-plays in the doubleheader.
