Bass Earns IIAC Honor as Spartans Rank Third in Central Region Polls

IIAC Performers of the Week for Feb. 6, 2017
DUBUQUE, Iowa – Alec Bass (Jr., Spring Green, Wis./River Valley) was named IIAC Men’s Track and Field Track Performer of the week for his outing at the Watburg Select Invite on Saturday.
Bass (Junior, Spring Green Wis./River Valley) won the mile at the Wartburg Select Invite, while also setting a school record in the process by posting a time of 4:14.56. That time is good enough for the ninth best time in the mile in NCAA Division III this season. This is his third time this season being named IIAC Track Performer of the Week, while also collecting an IIAC Runner of the Week this past cross country season.
The Spartans men’s and women’s track teams are also ranking high in the U.S. Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association rankings. The men’s team is ranked 34th out of 147 Division III teams , while the women’s team is ranked 39th out of 144. The two squads rank 3rd in the Central Regional rankings. The Spartan men's team ranks thrid with 249.33 points while the women's team rank third with 226.79 points.
