Bass Second at Warrior Cross Country Invitational

MILWAUKEE, Wis. - UD's Alec Bass finished within a whisper of winning the 2016 Wisconsin Lutheran College Warrior Cross Country Invitational on Saturday in the 8K race. Bass finished second in 26:52.04, the winner Nate Richards of Principia crossed the finish line in 26:51.86, a mere .18.
The junior from Spring Green, Wis. has paced the Spartans all season and helped UD to a fifth place team finish with 154 points. Nineteen teams competed with 179 runners crossing the finish line.
"This XC season has been going very well for me," commented Bass. "I have been able to put myself in position to win in every race I have been in this season due to my fitness and the help from coaches and teammates. I'm going to keep the momentum, hard work, and a well disciplined attitude as I advance into the championship phase of the season. My goals since the beginning of summer training have been to win the conference meet, place inside the top 10 at the regional meet, qualify for nationals, and become an All-American by placing inside the top 25."
