Hernandez Named IIAC Offensive POW

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Dubuque’s men’s soccer forward Gonzalo Hernandez was named IIAC Offensive Performer of the Week.  In the Spartans two games, he scored five goals while helping lead the Spartans to victories over Aurora University and the Milwaukee School of Engineering.

Hernandez is second in the IIAC and tied for 10th nationally in goals with seven goals, while averaging 1.16 goals per game.  He also is first in the conference in assists with six.

In the latest NSCAA Divison III poll, the Spartans men’s soccer team is ranked 18th nationally poll.  They are also ranked second in the North region. 

On being ranked, coach Brad Johnson said, “Our 2016 University of Dubuque Men’s Soccer Team has been outstanding in their mentality and work-rate.  They continue to believe in the process and attention to detail.  The focus remains on the next match and belief in our group.  Every player in our UD Soccer Program plays an important role and is vital to our success.”

The Spartans are at North Park University in Chicago on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
