Hernandez Continues to Earn Postseason Honors

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Gonzalo Hernandez of the University of Dubuque men’s soccer team was named a NSCAA Second Team All-American on Thursday.

This is just the latest accolade for the senior forward from Madrid, Sparin for the 2016 season. He has also been named a CoSIDA second team Academic All-American, IIAC Academic All-Conference, NSCAA first team All-North Region and first team IIAC All-Conference.

Over his four year career at UD, Hernandez has also been named first team All-Iowa Conference in 2014 and 2015, to go along with 2016. He was also named the to the 2013 honorable mention IIAC All-Conference team, was the  2015 Iowa Conference Offensive MVP, is three time member of the Academic All-Iowa Conference team (2014-16), as well as making the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-District and 2015 First Team NSCAA All-Region.

Several other Spartans have earned postseason honors. Bryan Gramajo, Felipe Sanchez, Jacob Alstadt, Joey Broms, Partryk Openchowski and Tom Murphy were also named to the IIAC All-Academic Team. Danny Daniels, Malcolm Phillips and Tom Murphy were also named a member for the first team IIAC All-Conference team with Hernandez. While goalkeeper Luis Gallardo was named second team IIAC All-Conference. Malcolm Phillips was also selected as a member of the NSCAA second team All-North Region and Danny Daniels was named to the third team.
