Hernandez Tabbed Second Team Academic All-American

DUBUQUE, Iowa- The University of Dubuque Men’s Soccer forward Gonzalo Hernandez was named a second team CoSIDA Academic All-American.

Hernandez, a senior from Madrid, Spain, boosted a 3.64 GPA while majoring in business and marketing. On the field, Hernandez recorded 49 points for the Spartans with 20 goals and nine assists. He also recorded seven game winning goals for UD, including one to top crosstown rival Loras. He was also named to the 2016 first team all-conference team by the Iowa Conference. His 20 goals were the third most goals by an individual in school history and put him at 46 career goals which is second in school history for career goals and his 49 points ties a school record for points in a single season.

Throughout his four years as a Spartan, Hernandez has recorded several accolades. He collected first team All-Iowa Conference in 2014 and 2015, to go along with 2016. Hernandez was also named the 2015 Iowa Conference Offensive MVP, is three time member of the Academic All-Iowa Conference team (2014-16), as well as making the 2015 CoSIDA Academic All-District and 2015 First Team NSCAA All-Region.
