Kalkbrenner and Bass Tabbed IIAC Performers of the Week

DUBUQUE, Iowa- The University of Dubuque’s Quincy Kakbrenner (Wrestling) was named IIAC Athlete and Wrestler of the Week and Alec Bass was named Track Performer of the Week.

Quincy Kalkbrenner (Lena, Ill./ Lena-Winslow) was named Male Athlete and Wrestler of the Week after going 5-0 at the Elmhurst Invite, while earning Outstanding Wrestler honors at the invite. Kalkbrenner finished with two pins, the first coming in 1:18 and second in 3:31. In the quarter finals, he defeated Hjorth (Elmhurst) 4-0, while taking down Steven Bonsall (Chicago) 14-5 in the semifinals. In the finals, Kalkbrenner dominated the #1 seed Keone Derain 14-3, to claim the title at 157 ilbs.

Alec Bass (Spring Green, Wis./River Valley) was named Men’s Track Performer of the Week after his performance at the Sol Butler Classic on Saturday. Bass came in 1st out of 44 competitors in the men’s 3,000m run in a time of 8:52.01. That time ranks first in the IIAC and 30th in the NCAA. Bass was the 5,000 and 3,000m runner-up at the IIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships last year. "There was a lot of good competition at the Sol Butler Classic. I am honored to be named IIAC track performer of the week," commented Bass.
