Men's Basketball Rally Falls Short

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's basketball trailed by nine points after one half before rallying to a six point lead with under nine minutes to go before a telented North Park University team reclaimed the lead en route to a hard fought 81-77 victory on Jon Davison Court in Stoltz Sports Center.

UD's bench would out score North Park 25-8 as both squads worked the ball into the paint. North Park held the edge in the paint 38-32, but trailed the Spartans in points scored off turnovers 12-9. Jamaree Atwater led UD in scoring with 20 points and nine rebounds. T.J. Lake pumped in a quiet 19 points as Jalen Jackson came off the bench to finish with 18 points. Jackson was on fire from the outside, sinking 5-6 three point attempts. Jake Weber grabbed 12 rebounds as UD trailed in overall rebounds 40-42.

The Spartans sank 29-70 shots attempts from the field (41.4%), 10-27 from the three point area (37%), and 9-20 free throw attempts (45%).

UD (1-1 overall) will travel out west to play the Buena Vista University Beavers (2-0) on Wed, Nov. 30 at 8 p.m. The Spartans return home to welcome the Loras College Duhawks (2-1) to campus on Saturday, Dec. 3 at 4:00 p.m.
