Men's Basketball Season Banquet Honors

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's basketball team held recently held their end of season banquet and honored student-athletes for the 2016-17. The Spartans finiehd 10-15 overall, 7-9 in IIAC. This year's senior class won 72 games in past four years (most in the IIAC), 38 Iowa Conference games in past four seasons (most in IIAC), and were part of two championships.
This season the Spartans ranked #18 in the NCAA Division III statistics in fewest turnovers and 21st in three point shots made per game (10.1). In the IIAC, UD led in defensive rebounds per game (29.7), 2nd in three point baskets made (10.2), 2nd in block (3.4), and 2nd in defensive rebounding percentage (77.4%). Jake Weber ranked fifth in the NCAA Division III in double-doubles with 20 games (double digit scoring and rebounding) and 6th in defensive rebounds and eighth in total rebounds. T.J. Lae sank 89.5% of his free throw attempts to finish 20th in the NCAA Division III.
“We want to thank our seniors for their hard work and wish them nothing, but the best as they move forward," commented head coach Robbie Sieverding. "Our returners are looking forward to improving after a disappointing season and I’m confident they will work hard this off season. Also a special thanks to Coach Bierman who will be moving on and concentrating on men’s and women’s golf moving forward. He played an important role in shaping our program the past nine years and has always been passionate about Spartan basketball!”
