DUBUQUE, Iowa- The University of Dubuque men’s lacrosse team recorded their first shutout of the season, routing the North Central University Rams, 21-0.

UD (8-5) won the opening faceoff and sprinted down the field and Kevin Ramano finding the back of the net in 12 seconds to make a statement right away. The Spartans never looked back, scoring 13 first half goals and was able to coast the rest of the way.

Five different Spartans had three goals or more in Saturday night’s blowout win. Michael Jango led the way with five goals, while also sharing the ball and dishing out three assists. Tyson Svoboda, Josh Berry-Wingate and Keven Romano each had four goals. Romano came into the came with only two goals the entire season so far.

Joe Furnstahl took two shots in the game, neither find the back of the net, but he still made his presence felt as he handed out six assists.

Both UD goalies, Kyle Mullins and Sam Kopecky, played 30 minutes each on Saturday night. Neither of them saw much action as the Spartan offense handled the ball for a majority of the game and limited the Rams to four total shots in the game, only one of which was on goal.  

The Spartans forced the Rams into 27 turnovers and dominated the faceoff circle, winning 18-25.

North Central comes to Dubuque on Wednesday night with an 8-1 record. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at Oyen Field.
