Men's Lacrosse Dominate At Carroll

WAUKESHA, Wis.- The University of Dubuque men’s lacrosse team came away with an impressive road win on Saturday, defeating the Carroll University Pioneers, 19-5.

55 seconds into the game Tyson Svoboda scored off an assist from Josh Berry-Wingate and it was all Spartans from that point on. UD would score the first four goals on the game in the first 5:41 and jumped out to a 6-1 lead after the first period to make sure the game was never in doubt. 

Matt Penalvert was outstanding, collecting nine of UD's 19 goals, while dishing out assists on two other UD goals. Four other Spartans recorded at least two goals in the game. Joe Furnstahl netted a hat trick with three goals, while Michael Juilius, Tyson Svoboda and Josh Berry-Wingate all had two goals. The Spartans had an impressive 10 assists in the game on their 19 goals. Led by Josh Berry-Wingate with three. Five other Spartans collected a point with at least one assist. 

UD dominated every facet of the game. They forced the Pioneers into 38 turnovers, scooped up 63 gounds balls to Carroll's 51, racked up 51 shots and held the Pioneers to only 19 shots. 

Both of UD's goalies saw action in the blowout victory, with Kyle Mullins getting the start and win with four saves in the process. Sam Kopecky came into action with 15 minutes left to close things out and grabbed two saves of his own. 

The Spartans will look to carry the momentum into Wednesday night's home matchup against Emhurst College at 5:00 p.m.
