Men's Soccer Drop First Conference Match

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque Men’s Soccer Team dropped their match Saturday night to the Simpson Storm, 0-3.  The loss moved the men’s soccer team to 11-2 on the season.

Simpson kicked the scoring off in the 30th minute off a free kick that was headed in by Simpson’s Garrett Pochop. They scored one more time before halftime to give the Spartans a 0-2 deficit at halftime. The Spartans had their chances to get on the board in the first half, the best one coming off a shot from Malcolm Phillips that hit the post. In the second half, the Spartans were only able to get two shots off although they had several chances that they could not manage to get anything out of. 

Spartan goalie, Luis Gallardo, blocked six Simpson shots tonight giving him 40 saves for the season. On the offensive side, Gonzalo Hernandez leads the Spartans with 30 points on 12 goals and six assists. The next closest Spartan is Malcolm Phillips at 14 points on five goals and four assists.  

The Spartans return to the pitch on Tuesday night at Luther College at 7:30 p.m.
