Men's Soccer Strike Past Raiders

DUBUQUE, Iowa – On a perfect day for soccer, the Spartans men’s soccer team struck past the Milwaukee School of Engineering Raiders, 2-0 to remain undefeated at a perfct 6-0 this season.

Dubuque’s Gonzalo Hernandez, picked up right where he left off Wednesday night, adding two more goals on the afternoon, after scoring three goals on Wednesday. Both goals came unassisted, one off a fast break and the second off of a Milwaukee School of Engineering miscue. The Spartans had several other chances on the afternoon as they posting 14 shots as a team. Behind Hernandez’ six shots, Matheus Santos added four shots on goal, but just was not quite able to finish. 

The Spartans defense was once again phenomenal, posting their fifth shutout in six games.  Goalie, Luis Gallardo led the Spartans in net with two saves; it was also his fifth shutout of the year. Danny Daniels and Joshua Merkel were also stout on the defensive end to help preserve the shutout.     

The Spartans next game is on September 21st at 7:00 p.m., against North Park University.
