Men's Soccer Suffer Second Conference Loss

DUBUQUE, Iowa- Men’s soccer suffered a 3-1 defeat on Wednesday night to the Wartburg College Knights at Oyen Field.

After an offensive stalemate for a majority of the first half, Wartburg’s Travis Gudenkauf put the Knights on the board. After a second goal by the Knights early in the second half, the Spartans answered with their first goal of the night in the 63rd minute from Malcolm Phillips, his sixth goal of the season which is the second most on the team. 

Dubuque did manage to put up 18 shots on the night. Gonzalo Hernandez had seven of those shots, while Malcolm Phillips and Matheus Santos also added three shots. While the Spartans were only able to get three shots on goal, they have several other opportunities where their shots just sailed wide or high of the net or even hit the post.  

The Spartans are back in action on Saturday, as they take on UW-Platteville at 2:00 p.m. at Oyen Field.
