Men's Tennis Finish Season With Close Loss To Wartburg

May 2, 2017

DUBUQUE, Iowa- The University of Dubuque men's tennis closed out their season in a nail-biting match, falling to the Wartburg College Knights, 5-4. It was the third time this season that the Spartans lost a match 5-4.

The Spartans finished the season with a 7-10 overall record and 2-6 in Iowa Conference action. Justin Castro was a solid number one for UD, going 11-6 in singles and 11-6 in double action when pairing up with Jared Juhn. The other Spartans that finished above .500 in singles play were Matthew Sablay at 12-8, Ranfer Hernandez with an 11-8 record and Jordan Hamling finished the 2017 campaign with a 9-8 record.

UD should be in fine shape heading into the 2018 season, as there is not one senior on the roster. They have five juniors on the roster currently that will look to use their experience to be a force in the Iowa Conference next season.
