The University of Dubuque captured the first annual "Battle of the Bluff" indoor track and field meet on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2017 after competing against Clarke University, and Loras College compete on the A.Y. McDonald Indoor Track in the Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center.
The Spartans won 11 events for head coach Chad Gunnelson to capture the trophy in the Spartans season opener for the women's and men's indoor track and field teams. Strong showings by the field event competitors continued where they left off last spring from the Spartans outdoor season.
UD will relax for the holidays before returning next year to kick-off a challenging indoor schedule with the Solomon W. Butler Classic on January 14 on the A.Y. McDonald Indoor Track in the Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center. The Spartans will host the UD Spartan Invite on Feb. 17 before hosting the very competitive 2017 IIAC Indoor Track and Field Championships on Feb. 24-25.
