Spartans Struggle to Contain Knights

WAVERLY, Iowa-  The University of Dubuque Men's basketball had their three game win streak snapped on Saturday, as they fell to Wartburg 74-94. UD struggled to contain the Knights, allowing them to shoot 32-59 (54.2%), while the Spartans were only able to hit 25 of their 59 shot attemps for 42.4%

The Spartans trailed by as much as 25 points during the second half, but contined to fight and cut the deficit to 14 points with about six minutes remaining in the game, but the Spartans ran out of steam and Wartburg went on one last rally to seal the game. Jake Weber was once again a force, as he racked up another double-double with 13 points and 12 rebounds, and barely missing out on a triple-double as he dished out eight assists. the double-double was Weber's 11th of the season, which leads Division III. 

In the absence of starting point guard TJ Lake, Kyle Bauer stepped up, leading the Spartans in scoring by having season high 15 points on 6-8 shooting and connecting on three, threes pointers. Jacob Mohlis knocked down two, three points and scored 10 points, which was the third most on the night for UD. Jayden Clayton provided some energy off the bench, as he also had a season high for the Spartans as he came off the bench and pitched in eight ponts. 

Come out and support the Spartans Wednesday night, as the Simpson Storm come to Dubuque and the Stoltz Sports Center. Tip off is set for 8:00 p.m.
