BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The University of Dubuque women's and men's track and field started their 2017 outdoor season in the south, competing at the Birmingham Southern Hilltop Classic. The Spartans claimed the women's title with 176 points and the men finished with 195 points to earn the men's title.
The Spartans won seven women's events and seven men's events helping them to claim both titles among a very competitive field. The Spartans set seven meet records for a successful first 2017 outdoor meet campaign.
Indoor national qualifier, Fabiola Ortiz broke the school record in the women's 1500m run in 4:39.98 after winning in the field of 17 competitors.
