Volleyball Earn 13 Points in IIAC Coaches Preseason Poll

CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - Loras Volleyball, the runner-up to Wartburg for the 2015 Iowa Conference regular season and tournament title, claims the top spot in the IIAC Volleyball Coaches Preseason Poll by the narrowest margin at 59-58. The Duhawks and Knights each collected four first place votes.
Loras' picked up 59 points with four first place votes, three second place votes, and a third place vote (coaches do not vote for their own team). Wartburg is second with their 58 points coming from four firsts, three seconds, and a four place vote. Buena Vista sits third with 51 points on one first place vote, three second place votes, three third place votes, and a fifth place vote. Luther comes in at No. 4 with 38 points. Coe is fifth with 37 points. IIAC newcomer Nebraska Wesleyan is projected to earn to the final Iowa Conference Tournament spot with 29 points for sixth place. Central is seventh with 20 points while Simpson is picked to finish eighth with 19 points. Dubuque projects to finish ninth with 13 points.

AVCA Preseason Poll: Iowa Conference Regular Season and Tournament Champion Wartburg is receiving votes in the Preseason AVCA Division III Coaches Top 25.
The Schedule: All nine schools begin the 2016 season on September 2 with each team playing multiple games over the opening weekend. The 2016 Iowa Conference schedule begins on Tuesday, September 13 with Luther hosting Dubuque and Central at Simpson. The final games of the conference season are scheduled for October 25 with Nebraska Wesleyan at Simpson, Loras hosting Luther, and Wartburg at Dubuque. The IIAC season is an eight game round robin schedule.
IIAC Tournament: The Iowa Conference and "Go Cedar Rapids" are excited to announce a major change to the IIAC Volleyball Tournament. Beginning this fall, all five of the tournament matches will be played at the U.S. Cellular Center in Cedar Rapids over the course of two days beginning on Friday, November 4 and concluding on Saturday, November 5. The exact tournament schedule is yet to be determined. The top six teams qualify with the 4/5 seeds and 3/6 seeds meeting in the opening round. The first round winners will face the 1 and 2 seeds in the semifinals. Semifinals winners square off for the tournament title and the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
