Volleyball Uses Team Effort to Sweep Rockford

ROCKFORD, Ill.- Dubuque volleyball rolled right by Rockford on Tuesday night, 3-0 (25-14,25-15,25-9).

The Spartans used a team effort to get by the Regents, as 17 different Spartans saw action in at least one match.  Karrah Davis led the Spartans in both kills and digs, as she had seven kills and 12 digs.  Anna Runge was right behind her with six kills and both Jenna Runde and Meagan Albon had eight digs.  12 of the 17 Spartans that played recorded at least one kill. The team also added seven blocks on the defensive end, with Alyssa Cose having one solo and three block assists.

Alyssa Cose added 19 assists tonight, to bring her season total to 690 out of the team’s 835.  Four Spartans are in triple digits for kills. Karrah Davis has the most with 289, while Lauren Egnarski, Kendall Kaufmann and Anna Runge are the other Spartans in triple digits, with Anna Grace at 97. 

The Spartans return home for two matches this weekend. On Friday night they take on Nebraska Wesleyan with JV starting a 6 p.m. and varsity at 7:30 p.m. Saturday afternoon Buena Vista comes to town with a start time of 1 p.m.
