Women's Basketball Bitten by Beavers in IIAC Opener

STORM LAKE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque Women’s Basketball Team dropped their conference opener on Tuesday night 77-108 to Buena Vista Univeristy.

Three different Spartans totaled 18 points or more tonight to lead UD. Madison Boer led the way with 22 points, while Emily Brinker had 20 and Abbey Meyer pitched in 18. To go along with her 18 points, Meyer also hauled in six rebounds and dished out eight assists. Morgan Boer led the Spartans on the glass by grabbing six of the teams 38 rebounds.

Through the first six games of the season Brinker is leading the team in scoring, averaging 16.0 points per game, while Meyer is averaging 11.8 and Madison Boer is third on the team with 10.5. Meyer is leading the way with 25 assists for an assist to turnover ratio of 1.8 and she is also leading the team in rebounds with 28. Brinker and Morgan Boer are right behind Meyer with 26 total rebounds. Freshman T'Nauzhae Robinson has 23 rebounds and has also added 4.0 points per game. 22 different Spartans have seen action already this season.

The Spartans return home on Saturday to face their rival, Loras College. Tip-off is set for 2:00 pm. at the Stoltz Sports Center.
