Women's Basketball Locks Down Duhawks

DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque Women’s Basketball team took down rival Loras on Saturday afternoon, 52-35.

The Spartans defense held the Duhawks to just 14 of 62 from the field on the day for just 22.6%. UD also held Loras to just one three pointer made on 22 attempts and forced 25 turnovers. Five different Spartans recorded a steal, with Abbey Meyer leading the way with three and Madison Boer recorded two. UD allowed only one Duhawk to reach double figures points and held everyone else to five points or less.

Only two Spartans reached double figure points but eight different Spartans did score. Emily Brinker led the way with 13 points and Morgan Boer was the other in double figures with 10 points. Madison Boer dropped in 7 points, while Rylee Andresen came off the bench to score eight and lead the Spartans on the glass with eight rebounds. Both of the Boer sisters, Morgan and Madison, each grabbed six rebounds, which was tied for the second most on the night for UD.

UD returns to the court on Wednesday as they travel to Pella to take on Central College at 6:00 p.m.
