Women's Lacrosse Dropped By Illinois Wesleyan

BLOOMINGTON, Ill.- The University of Dubuque women’s lacrosse team struggled on the road on Saturday afternoon, falling to Illinois Wesleyan 17-2. The Spartans are now 8-6 overall and 1-2 in CCIW play.

Illinois Wesleyan scored twice in the first 1:20 and UD could not recover after the quick deficit. Illinois Wesleyan did a fine job a shutting down the Spartans attack on Saturday, limiting the Spartans to just eight shots in the game. Claire Carlson was the lone Spartan to score, finding the back of the net twice, giving her 44 goals on the season to pass Robyn Wittkopf for the team lead.

As a team, UD grabbed 18 ground balls, led by goal keeper, Kyra Nelson with five. Claire Carlson, Ashlyn Ptasienski and Robyn Wittkopf all recorded three ground balls of their own. UD also converted nine clears on 12 attempts.

UD will look to bounce back next Saturday, April 22nd, as they host CCIW leader Carthage College at 1:00 p.m.
