Box Score

DUBUQUE, Iowa- Robyn Wittkopf scored four goals for the University of Dubuque women’s lacrosse team on Wednesday night but it was not enough as the Spartans fell victim to the North Central College Cardinals, 9-20.

The game did not get off to an ideal start for the Spartans as North Central won the opening draw and scored 12 second in. After Sara Rose put UD on the board in the seventh minute, the Cardinals would go on to score the next five goals to grow their lead to 8-1. North Central would go on to take a 11-4 lead into halftime.

In her last home game as a Spartan, Robyn Wittkopf would not let UD go quietly with a goal in the 10th minute of the second half to spark a mini UD rally and cut the deficit to 6-15. A few minutes Claire Carlson found the back of the net and right after Robyn Wittkopf added her fourth goal of the night to make it an 8-15 game. However, North Central would go on to score five of the next six goals to end the game.

To go along with Wittkopf’s four goals, Claire Carlson added two goals to maintain her team lead in goals by two over Wittkopf. Sara Rose, Ashlyn Ptasienski and Breann Tjaarda each had one goal.

The Spartans will wrap up the season on Saturday as they travel to Elmhurst College. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. in Elmhurst, Ill.
