Women's Lacrosse Drops Road Contest at Rockhurst

KANSAS CITY, Missouri- The University of Dubuque women's lacrosse team traveled to Kansas City on Saturday to take on Rockhurst University, falling 3-21.

The Spartans fell behind 4-0 in the first three minutes before Alora Esparza got UD on the board in the fourth minute. Rockhurst went on to score the next 13 goals to expand their lead to 17-1. Kierra Donovan found the back of the net for the Spartans with 14 minutes remaining and Claire Carlson added her team leading 32nd goal of the season just a few minutes later on a power play.

Rockhusrt controlled the ball for a majority of the game, only allowing the Spartan attack to get off seven shots. A bright spot in the game was that the Spartan defense did force Rockhurst into 24 turnovers in the game.

UD returns home on Wednesday, April 5th, to take on crosstime rival, Loras College. Game time is set for 7:00 p.m. at Oyen Field.
