Women's Soccer Lose to Dutch 0-3

PELLA, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women’s soccer team fell to Central College on Saturday afternoon, 0-3.

In the first half, both teams struggled to get any offense going as it was tied at zero heading into the break.  The Dutch broke the scoring drought for both teams in the 47th minute to take a 0-1 lead. Central would manage to get two more goals in the half to win 0-3.

On the season, the Spartans offense is led by Shelby Nicholson and Lauren Cangelosi, as both have four goals. Cangelosi has also added five assists this season.  Kyleigh McLaughlin is right behind both of them with three goals and two assists.  The Spartans are still outscoring their opponents 21-19, which is a credit to the defenders Jaimie Spate, Alexa Martin, Jessica Fierce, Taryn Spisak and Lauren Cangelosi, as well as goal keepers Megan Moll and Paige Dykstra.

The Spartans return home for another conference match on Wednesday night against Wartburg College at 5:00 at Oyen Field.
