Women's Soccer Stop Fighting Scots 3-1

DUBUQUE, Iowa- The Dubuque Spartans women’s soccer team defeated Monmouth College 3-1 on Wednesday night at Oyen Field. UD has won three out of their last four matches including a pair of road victories.
Shelby Nicholson put the Spartans on the board midway through the first half as she hammered home a beautiful corner kick from Lauren Cangelosi. The Spartans did not wait long to strike again, as Lexus Rose gave the Spartans a 2-0 lead just three minutes after Nicholson’s goal as she found the back of the net after a rebound off of the Fighting Scots goalie.
After being 2-1 for half of the second half, Kyleigh McLaughlin scored on a breakaway which gave the Spartans a 3-1 lead that they would not relinquish. Dubuque goal keeper, Megan Moll, saved three Fighting Scots shots.
The Spartans kick-off conference play at Buena Vista University on Saturday before returning home on September 28th against UW-Eau Claire.
