Women's Soccer Take Control of Beavers Early

STORM LAKE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque women's soccer team quickly pushed the ball up the field and scored the game winning goal at 10:50 by Amanda Chlebek on a header off a corner kick by Lauren Cangelosi. Shelby Nicholson scored at 22:54 off assist by Brianna Burkhart and Kyleigh McLaughlin. Taylor Bettinger would add a third Spartan goal just before the end of the first half at 42:38 off assists by Taryn Spisak and Burkhart to extend the lead to 3-0 at halftime.
Megan Moll earned the shutout and stopped three Beaver shots on goal. The Spartans finished with 18 shots with 13 of them being on goal, Nicholson led with four shots on goal. UD held the edge on corner kicks 6-0.
The Spartans improved to 5-3-1 overall and 1-0 in the IIAC. UD will host UW-Eau Claire on Wednesday, Sept. 28 on Oyen Field at 7:00 p.m.
