DUBUQUE, Iowa – The University of Dubuque women’s basketball team struggled to contain the Luther Norse on Wednesday night and fell 95-74.

The Spartans scored on their first three possesions of the game to jump out to a 6-0 lead and an 8-2 lead before the game was three minutes old. The Norse then found their rhythm on offense and rattled off the next 14 points to go ahead 16-8. UD cut the deficit to as little as three points on multiple occasions early in the second quarter. After a Kennedy Collins layup cut the UD deficit to 24-21 with 7:32 remaining in the quarter, Luther went on an 10-0 and UD would not be able to get within double digits again.

Abbey Meyer paced the Spartans offense with 21 points. Meyer was a perfect 8-8 from the free throw line against the Norse.  Allison Roach came off the bench to be second in scoring for UD with 17 points on 6-11 shooting from the field. Morgan Boer did a bit of everything on Wednesday, finishing with nine points, nine rebounds, three steals, two blocks and one assists in 29 minutes.

Heading into the final game of the year, Abbey Meyer leads the Spartans with 15.3 points per game, 3.25 assists per game, free throw percentage at 81.6% and is second in rebounds with 5.6. Cece Pope leads UD with 6.1 rebounds per game.

The Spartans close out the season at home on Saturday, when they host rival Loras College at 2:00 in the Stoltz Sports Center.
