    UD Women's Tennis student-athlete Stephanie LoCasto has been named First Team Academic All-District At-Large. LoCasto finished the year with 10 singles wins and a school record seven wins in doubles play.

    Iben Named First Team Academic All-District

    University of Dubuque Men’s Tennis student-athlete Shawn Iben (Clinton, Iowa/Camanche) has been named Division III First Team Capital One/CoSIDA Academic All-District 8 At-Large. Iben was recently named the Spartan Academic Athlete Excellence Award winner for having the highest cumulative GPA among all UD senior student-athletes.

    The University of Dubuque Baseball team had three student-athletes named All-Iowa Conference. Spencer Kuehn was named 1st Team Outfielder. Jordan Gawronski (OF) and Nick Martin (2B) were chosen 2nd Team.

    UD Asst. Coach Munson Named to USA National Team Staff

    University of Dubuque Baseball Assistant Coach Eric Munson has been named to the 2013 USA Baseball 18 and Under National Team coaching staff. Munson, a first year assistant for the Spartans, coached the hitters and catchers this past season. The 18U National Team will compete in Taichung, Chinese Taipei as a part of the IBAF AAA/18U World Cup from August 30 to September 8.

    Spartans Compete at Last Chance Meets

    The University of Dubuque Track and Field teams looked to finish the season on a high note with school records and national championship qualifying performances in their last races of the season. The Spartans traveled to UW-La Crosse on Thursday, May 16th for the UWL Last Chance Meet and the finished the regular season on Friday, May 17th at the North Central College Last Chance Meet. The UD women set two school records while the men posted two NCAA DIII Championships qualifying performances.

    Loggins Named Head Women’s Lacrosse Coach

    Kendall Loggins has been named the new Women's Lacrosse Head Coach at the University of Dubuque. Loggins will continue to coach Women's Soccer in addition to her duties as Lacrosse Coach. She began at UD in 2011 as a graduate assistant for Women's Soccer.

    NCAA DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships Results

    The University of Dubuque Track & Field teams concluded the 2013 outdoor season with two qualifiers in the NCAA Division III Outdoor National Championships on Friday afternoon. On the track, Corey Broussard (Waukesha, Wis./Waukesha South) finished with a time of 10.94 seconds in the 100m Dash. In field events, Christopher Watson (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West) completed his day with a final High Jump height of 6’-4.75” (1.95m).

    Dobratz and Zurbuchen Named Track & Field Academic All-District

    The University of Dubuque placed three Track & Field student-athletes on the Capital One Academic All-District (District #8) First Team as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) for their performance in the classroom and on the track. To be selected the student-athlete must have a cumulative GPA of 3.3 or higher and be a sophomore or above. Spartans selected were Ashley Barwick, Tyler Dobratz, and Evan Zurbuchen.

    Spartans Place 32 on Spring Academic All-IIAC List

    The University of Dubuque placed 32 Student-Athletes on the Spring Academic All-Iowa Conference Team. To be eligible for the IIAC All-Academic Team a Student-Athlete must compete at the varsity level, be least a sophomore in academic standing, have attended the nominating institution for at least one academic year, and attain a 3.5 or better grade point average. UD Women’s Track and Field led all Spartan spring team with eight honorees.

    All-America Honors for Barwick

    University of Dubuque three-sport standout Ashley Barwick has been named Second Team Capital One Academic All-America for Track & Field/Cross Country by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA). Barwick, an Accounting/Business Admin double major graduated in May with a 4.00 grade point average.

    Carter Nominated for Allstate AFCA Good Works Team

    University of Dubuque senior long snapper Tyson Carter has been named one of 151 nominees for the 2013 Good Works Team as announced by Allstate Insurance Company and American Football Coaches Association. College Football’s top community service award, the award recognizes a select group of student-athletes who have made a commitment to enriching the lives of others while contributing to the greater good of their communities.

    Harrold Named Women's Basketball Coach at Grinnell

    Dana Harrold has been named head women’s basketball coach at Grinnell College, according to Director of Athletics and Recreation Greg Wallace. Harrold becomes the 10th Pioneer women’s basketball coach in program history after serving as an assistant coach at the University of Dubuque since 2006.

    The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA), announced Tuesday. the 2013 Division III All-Academic Track & Field teams. The University of Dubuque was one of 148 institutions earned the distinction as a result of earning a cumulative team GPA of 3.10 or higher.

    The University of Dubuque Volleyball team has earned the AVCA Team Academic Award for the fourth straight year. UD was one of a record 622 teams to earn the award for the 2012-13 school year.

    The University of Dubuque Men’s Tennis team was named an Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) All-Academic Team award winner. The Spartans were one of 40 Division III teams to earn the award on the men’s side for the 2012-13 academic year. In addition, five Spartan student-athletes earned the honor of ITA Scholar-Athlete.

The Spartans were one of 82 teams to earn the award on the women’s side for the 2012-13 academic year. In addition, two Spartan student-athletes earned the honor of ITA Scholar-Athlete. The UD Men's Tennis team joined the women's team to become the only Iowa Conference school to place both teams on the ITA All-Academic team list.

    The University of Dubuque Spartans tied for first place of the 2013 Culver's Edgewood College Fall Classic with a team score of 598. UD's Mitch Sobotta claimed medalist honors after firing a 140 for the two day tournament.

    The University of Dubuque Men's Soccer team played St. Thomas to an even 0-0 tie at the half before the Tommies rallied for three second period goals. Battling high temperates once again, the Spartans played 19 players including two goal keepers.

    The University of Dubuque's one-two duo at forward of Megan Siepler and Alexandra Watkins provided all the offense the Spartans would need to take down St. Mary's University (0-2). The Sunday afternoon home opener saw Siepler and Watkins team up on all three goals in the Spartans 3-1 victory.

    The University of Dubuque Women’s Soccer team was ranked tenth in the initial National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA)/Continental Tire NCAA Division III North Region Poll. The Spartans are currently 2-0 on the season and have won 10 of their last 12 dating back to last season.

    Men's Golf Wins Loras Fall Invite

    The University of Dubuque once again finished at the top of the leaderboard on Tuesday at the Meadows Golf Club. The Spartans finished the afternoon shooting a team total 289 to capture the 2013 Loras College Fall Invitational at the nine team tournament. UD finished just one shot over Par on the Par 72, 6675 yards course.

    The University of Dubuque volleyball team dropped a pair of road contests on Wednesday night. UD opened with Edgewood College and lost 0-3 (19-25, 14-25, 24-26) before facing the hosts UW-Oshkosh and losing 0-3 (20-25, 19-25, 14-25).

    Men's Soccer Taken Down at Home

    The University of Dubuque Men's Soccer team will be prepared for anything once the Iowa Conference season begins later this month. The Spartans once again found themselves in a tight battle that would go down to the final seconds on Friday night. UD would lose to Lake Forest College (2-1) and the nations leading scorer from 2012, by the score of 2-1 at Oyen Field. Dubuque is now 0-3 on the season.

After a slow start, the Spartans exploded for six goals in the second half on their way to a 7-1 victory over Lawrence University (0-1). Iowa Conference Women's Soccer (Offense) Performer of the Week, Alexandra Watkins scored three goals and assisted on another to lead UD.

    The University of Dubuque football team engineered a hard fought victory on the road Saturday night by a 35-24 score over the UW-La Crosse Eagles. The Spartans scored on their first two possessions and never looked back in the squad's opening victory of the 2013 season.

    Spartans Remain Undefeated with Overtime Win

    The University of Dubuque Women's Soccer team remained undefeated to start the 2013 season with an overtime victory on Sunday afternoon. The 3-2 victory against Marian University (1-2) was the 125th overall victory for the program and Head Coach Jason Berna. The Spartans improved to 4-0 on the season.

    University of Dubuque junior wide receiver Tyler Rutenbeck was named IIAC Football (Offensive) Performer of the Week. Rutenbeck caught five passes for 170 yards and two touchdowns in the Spartans 35-24 win over UW-La Crosse.
