Game 2: UD-2, Bethany Lutheran-1   BOX SCORE
UD won a pitchers duel in game two thanks to a strong pitching effort from freshman Tyler Trifiletti (Woodbury, Minn./Woodbury). Trifiletti allowed only four hits while striking out four in the complete game effort on the mound. The Spartan bats were held silent until Chris Briggs (Lombard, Ill./Montini) stepped up and drove a ball over the right field wall to tie the ball game at 1-1.

The Spartans rally in the fifth began with a one out double by Martin down the left field line. Briggs followed with a deep fly ball to center field that advanced Martin to third. The relay throw from the Bethany Lutheran shortstop was off target and landed in the UD dugout allowing Martin to score and give Dubuque a 2-1 lead.
