PLATTEVILLE, WISCONSIN - The University of Dubuque Women's Soccer was unable to get the offense going on Wednesday night at UW-Platteville. The Spartans 1-0 loss to the Pioneers featured two teams with shutdown defenses. UD boastes a 1.06 goals against average while UWP holds a 1.13 goals against average. The Spartans and UWP played a scoreless first half with each team finishing the half with one shot on goal. UD held a 2-0 advantage in corner kicks.

The second half featured more back-and-forth action from the two evenly matched teams. The difference in the game was a UWP shot from 30 yards out that snuck in the goal between the cross bar and Spartan goalkeeper Tiffany Duncan's (Hartford, Wis./Hartford Union) out reached hands. UWP held on to the 1-0 lead for the final 12 minutes to take the victory. The best scoring opportunity for UD came late as Megan Siepler (La Canada, Calif./La Canada) was able to get behind the defense for a breakaway.  As Siepler nearly the box, the UWP goalkeeper rushed her and smothered the ball before Siepler could get the shot off.

Duncan finished with two saves and one goal allowed in 90:00 minutes in goal.
