The University of Dubuque Department of Fine & Performing Arts and the UD Drama Club will present The Forgiving and The Forgetting written by UD Theatre Professor Amy Ressler with Jade Angelica, founder and director of Healing Moments Alzheimer’s Ministry. With original music and lyrics by songwriter Karen Buechele, this original drama tells the story of two siblings whose mother has Alzheimer’s Disease. An especially relevant work for caregivers of persons with dementia, the play will be a featured part of the November 7 Alzheimer’s Association conference on the University of Dubuque campus. There will also be post-show discussions with the actors and the writers after each evening performance.
The show will run three nights, November 7, 8, 9 (Thursday, Friday, and Saturday) at 7:30 p.m. and for one matinee performance on Sunday, November 10 at 2:00 p.m. in the Babka Theatre in the University of Dubuque’s Heritage Center.
The show’s cast includes guest artists Jane Morgan from Oregon, Wisconsin, Jennifer Hogue from Galena, IL, Ken Godwin from Dubuque, and Greg Wolf from Galena, IL. Students in the production include: Devin Lantagne (Bitburg, Germany), Elissa Jo Smith (Dubuque, IA), Gwen Beatty (Dubuque, IA), Kirsten Anderson (Peosta, IA), Ranita Anderson (Dolton, IL), Lily McKinlay (Dubuque, IA), Mitchell Raymond (Camanche, IA), Daneel Gayle (Los Angeles, CA), Carmen Turnbough (St. Louis, MO), Kayla Hamilton (Eldridge, IA), Ramon Riley (Fountain, CO), Tori Dann (Camanche, IA), Shauna Schmitt (Knoxville, IA), Joseph Lemley (Milwaukee, WI), Steven Cortez (Highland, CA), Alexander Davis (Carrollton, TX), Daniel Karnick (Winona, MN), Timothy Jones (Atlanta, GA), Noah Kachelski (Verona, WI). Special music will be provided by the University of Dubuque Bluegrass Band under the direction of Dr. Alan Crandall.
