Exhibit Highlights International Travel by UD Students, Staff, and Faculty

By University Relations Staff

DUBUQUE, Iowa - From landscapes to cityscapes and poses with friends to eating with strangers, the over 300 photographs of "International Photography: Photos by UD Students, Staff, and Faculty" at the University of Dubuque's Bisignano Art Gallery may ignite a passion for travel.

"International Photography: Photos by UD Students, Staff, and Faculty" is free and open to the public from Wednesday, November 1 through Thursday, November 30, 2023.

Taken during study abroad experiences, the photographs that will be on display in the exhibit highlight short-term, summer, and semester-long study abroad programs available via UD faculty committed to international education, UD's Department of Athletics, and partnership programs.

"Some people think an international study experience is like a game of chess, where calm and quiet strategy combines with taking one's time to sort out the best move. But oh no. When you look at these action-packed photos by over 100 of our students, staff, and faculty since fall 2022, you'll get the feeling of pure energy - if not chaos. You'll see our students, staff, and faculty in Cuba, France, Greece, Iceland, Ireland, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom," said Alan Garfield, MA, director of the art gallery and professor emeritus.

A free pre-show reception for "International Photography: Photos by UD Students, Staff, and Faculty" will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2023, in the art gallery. The reception will take place in conjunction with the Vienna Boys Choir, presented by the Dubuque Arts Council, which will begin at 7:30 p.m. Friday, November 17, 2023, in John and Alice Butler Hall, Heritage Center. For more information or to purchase tickets to the performance, please visit www.dbq.edu/HeritageCenter.

Gallery hours are noon to 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. The art gallery is also open in conjunction with all major events in John and Alice Butler Hall, Heritage Center.
