Delays and Cancellations

Only in the most extraordinary weather conditions will classes and normal operations be suspended or cancelled. Any weather notice will be communicated through email and the campus notification system. The University's main campus in Dubuque will always remain open with essential personnel reporting to work to provide necessary services to residential students. Additional locations in Dubuque, including the Babka Flight Center and Wolter Woods and Prairies, may have different opening and closing protocols. This advisory information will be communicated for these locations.

LIFE

For UD's LIFE location in Cedar Rapids, if conditions warrant a cancellation, this will be communicated through email and the campus notification system. Students should contact their professors or access Moodle for additional information.

For UD's LIFE locations in Meridian, ID, due to the different time zone, any cancellation or delay will be communicated through email by the location's administration. Students should contact their professors or access Moodle for additional information.

In general, the following protocols and timelines will apply:

To ensure the safety of our students, faculty, and staff, the Office of the President, in consultation with appropriate University administrators, makes the decision to delay the start of classes, cancel classes, or close the campus.

  • A decision to delay the start of classes or campus opening, or if conditions warrant to cancel classes and close campus, will be made by 6:00 a.m.
  • The decision for an early class release or campus closure would be made by 12:00/Noon.
  • Always use your best judgment during inclement when traveling to and from campus.

If there is a delayed start, the first classes of the day will be those immediately following the delayed start time.

When inclement weather is upon us, there are several ways you can learn about University of Dubuque delays and cancellations. For the most accurate, up-to-date information, always check your University of Dubuque email first for delay and cancellation information.
