Community Reach 99

University of Dubuque's Transfer Pathway for Iowa Community College Graduates

At the University of Dubuque, we're committed to helping students from Iowa's community colleges complete their undergraduate degrees with direction, affordability, and efficiency.

Community Reach 99 is a well-marked county road - built for Iowa students, free of detours, and leading straight to your destination. The program is designed specifically for students who have earned an Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree from an Iowa community college.

We've cleared away the potholes - rising cost, confusing credit transfers, and unclear routes - and paved a smooth transfer process that makes the path to your bachelor's degree as direct and dependable as possible. And for those with sights set further down the road, this pathway can take you all the way to a master's degree - or even to the proposed John and Alice Butler College of Osteopathic Medicine (applicant seeking accreditation) - without ever leaving the highway.

Transfer-Friendly Credits

The academic credits from your transfer major will transfer seamlessly. This allows you to complete your bachelor's degree in two years or less.

Established Transfer Major Agreements

We've partnered with Iowa's community colleges to create clear transfer agreements for the following majors:

Student and Teacher
Student in Lab

Affordable Tuition

Iowa AA or AS graduates will pay less in tuition than they would at an Iowa public university. Your UD admission counselor will walk you through financial aid options and answer any questions you may have.

No Detours - Just Success

With Community Reach 99, your degree is more than achievable - it's a direct route to building your future and investing back in Iowa.

Frequently Asked Questions

What if my associate's degree from an Iowa college is not in a transfer major?

Students who have completed a general Associate of Arts (AA) or Associate of Science (AS) degree from an Iowa community college are still eligible for a reduced tuition rate. After institutional aid is applied, tuition costs are lower than those at Iowa public universities.

While a non-transfer major may not guarantee completion of a bachelor's degree within two years, many students still achieve this timeline. Completing an associate's degree offers a key advantage: you won't need to take additional general education courses.

Where can I get more information?

We look forward to helping you plan your route to degree completion through UD's Community Reach 99 for Iowa community college students. If you have any questions, please contact Melissa Gunnelson, MAC, associate dean of graduate and transfer admission, at 563.589.3664 or mgunnelson@dbq.edu.

And when that county road meets the highway, are there opportunities beyond a bachelor's degree?

You'll be ready for the next stretch, whether that means graduate school, professional programs like medicine or business, or heading back home with the skills to invest in your Iowa community.
