This elegant new show includes an original stage adaptation of Marcus Pfister's colorful story as well two of the author's companion tales, Rainbow Fish Discovers the Deep Sea and Opposites. The production incorporates innovative puppetry, striking scenic effects, and evocative original music to provide young audiences with an effortless introduction to literature and the arts. The Rainbow Fish enchants even the youngest child with his silver scales and heart of gold in this story about a beautiful fish who learns to share his most prized possession. Further adventures follow as The Rainbow Fish finds the courage to explore the great unknown deep sea. The underworld wonderland is the setting for an introduction to the concept of opposites. As a fitting finale, Rainbow Fish shares one of his shining scales with a friend.

THE ULTIMATE STEAM EXPERIENCE
The University of Dubuque Heritage Center partners with the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium to bring regional schools a full-day field trip excursion checking all the boxes for an ultimate STEAM experience. The Rainbow Fish will be paired with a guided tour of the museum. Package price is $13.00 early bird or $15.00 regular per person. Every 15th admission is free. Start the day with a 9:45 a.m. performance at Heritage Center, followed by a lunch break, and then a one-and-a-half-hour guided tour of the museum focusing on stories of the Mississippi River Watershed with highlights including the Main Channel, Backwater Marsh, and Delta Aquariums as well as the River of Innovation Gallery. There is a limit of 300 attendees per day for the museum portion plus a three-week minimum reservation deadline, so reserve early!
