Spartan Men's Golf Place 3rd at Clarke Fall Invite

PEOSTA, Iowa - The University of Dubuque men's golf team battled through rain and wind in their final round of play on Monday at the Clarke University Fall Classic held at Thunder Hills C.C. in Peosta. The Spartans finished 3rd out of 12 teams after trailing for the lead by two strokes the opening round 9 (309-311=620).

UD was led by runner-up medalist Josh Schuberg who carded rounds of 76 and 75 for a two day total of 151 on the Par 71, 6,542 yard course. Des Moines area Community College's Hunter Van Veen finished with the low round of 150 to claim medalist honors. Anders Haukoos tied for ninth with a score of 153, Chance Manternach tied for 17th with a final score of 157, Troy Krueger tied for 20th with a 159, and Tyler Engelken tied for 26th overall with a score of 162.

The Spartans "white" team placed 10th with a score of 699. Lane Hawkins placed 25th (161), Josh Turner tied for 42nd (170), Jacob Johnston 49th (179), Corbin Montgomery 55th (189), Nicholas Kaufman 59th (200). The Spartans JV team will host the University of Dubuque Classic on Sept. 20-21 at Dubuque Golf & Country Club as the varsity will travel to Greensboro, N.C. for the Preview Invitational on Sept. 21-22.
