DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Spartans face their toughest test yet against No. 24 Illinois Wesleyan in their second NCAA tournament appearance in school history. The Titans finished second in the potent College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) and gave up one goal in two games against Regional host, Wheaton (Ill.). The offenses will be key against some stout defense after IWU surrendered four goals in CCIW play and UD gave up five goals in IIAC play.

The Titans come in cold after losing their latest match to Wheaton (Ill.) in the CCIW semifinals, 1-0, while the Spartans roll in with six straight wins (including 0-0 tie in IIAC C’Ship where advanced on PKs), including 11 of their last 12.

Watch out for Illinois Wesleyan’s No. 10 forward, Sydney Fox, who leads the team in goals with 10 and shots at 56. She scored IWU’s last goal of the regular season in 73rd minute of 2-0 win over Augustana on November 5th. Fox and Co. are set up by leading assist-woman No. 16 midfielder, Amanda Kaiser, who owns a team-high 10 assists on the year.

UD counters with the dynamic duo of No. 4 forward, Megan Siepler, and No. 18 forward, Katie Lynn, who lead the team in shots attempted (148 combined) and goals (nine each). Lynn scored both of UD's goals in the IIAC Tournament. Siepler also anchors team in assists with No. 20 forward, Kyleigh McLaughlin, at five apiece.

Quotables
“Preparation is so important especially when you get to the round of 64.  You have to be ready if you want to give yourself a chance to win. Overall, it should be a good battle with Illinois Wesleyan between our strengths and their weaknesses. They are a good defensive team and have had some tight losses to some good teams. The girls are excited and ready for the challenge.”
-Head Coach Jason Berna

Full Circle
-Nearly 60% of the current UD roster hails from Illinois and around the greater Chicago area
-“In 2010 when we played Wheaton in a non-conference game, several girls - recruits at the time - on this year’s team watched us play. It’s neat to see it come full circle.” – Coach Berna

The winner will face either No. 5 Wheaton (Ill.) or Hope College in the Regional Championship on Saturday, November 15th.
