Spartans to Host Track and Field Academy

DUBUQUE, Iowa - The University of Dubuque will be hosting a Track and Field Academy for interested student-athletes looking to prepare for their upcoming track seasons. The University of Dubuque Track and Field Academy will be held on Sunday, January 18 and on Sunday, January 25, 2015. The cost is $110 per person with a group discount of $15 off when you sign up with two or more teammates.

The sessions will be held in the A.Y. McDonald Indoor Track in the Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center on the campus of the University of Dubuque. Those who attend will be instructed by UD coaching staff and student-athletes for event specific training and development. The academy is designed to provide atttendees added knowledge to prepare them for a successful upcoming track and field season. Participants can select from distance, sprints, hurdles, vault, throws, high jump, and long/triple Jumps and will each receive an academy t-shirt and training manual.

Tentative Academy Schedule:

January 18
8:30 a.m. Check-in at Mercer-Birmingham (adjacent to north end of Chlapaty Recreation and Wellness Center)
9:00 a.m. Classoom Session/Video Analysis
10:00 a.m. Group Warm-up  and Event Split Practice #1
11:00 a.m. Snack
11:15 a.m. Event Split Practice #2
12:00 p.m. Strength and Core Circuit
12:45 p.m. Cool Down and Recovery
1:00 p.m. Dismissal from day one of academy skill training

January 25
9:00 a.m. Classoom Session/Video Analysis
10:00 a.m. Group Warm-up  and Event Split Practice #1
11:00 a.m. Snack
11:15 a.m. Event Split Practice #2
12:00 p.m. Strength and Core Circuit
12:45 p.m. Cool Down and Recovery
1:00 p.m. Dismissal from final day of academy skill training

Items to bring include: athletic apparel, running shoes, event footwear/spikes, indoor throwing implements (shots/discs), vaulting poles, water bottle, and a pen or pencil.
