Busjahn, Higgins, and Sinkler Win at Grinnell Invite

2015 Grinnell Indoor Invitational Results
GRINNELL, Iowa – Rachel Busjahn (400 meters), Alexis Higgins (High Jump), and Amanda Sinkler (Pole Vault) all picked up victories as the University of Dubuque women’s track team finished fifth place at the Grinnell Indoor Invitational on Saturday.
The Spartans tallied 57 points and North Iowa Area Community College took home the team title after accumulating 88 points. UD took down fellow IIAC foes, Coe (28 points) and Simpson (9 points).
Busjahn’s first 400 meters of the year was a successful one after finishing with a time of 1:00.72. The senior also placed fifth in the 60 meters (8.36). Higgins, a freshman, leaped 5’3.75” to capture her second high jump title of the year, 0.5” away from her indoor personal best. Sinkler added a personal record, 10’6”, and also won her second pole vault title of the year.
Higgins also contributed to a third-place performance in the 4x200-meter relay (1:52.86) with Katrina Pagel, Amanda Zbilski, and MichelleAnn Sanchez.
Fabiola Ortiz snagged third in the 3000 meters with a personal best of 10:37.79.
The trio of throwers, Nicole Forson (39’3.25”), Tanasha Atwater (38’8.25”), and Lauren Egnarski (38’0.25”)earned spots three through six in the shot put. Forson added a personal record by 11 inches.
"It was a nice venue to compete at, but a fairly low key meet," said Assistant Coach Geoff Gundlach. "I'm glad we had almost everyone come away from today healthy and without any setbacks after resting a lot of people. We hope to have a good build up for the end of February."
The Spartans travel to the UW-Platteville Invitational next Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
