CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa - The University of Dubuque softball team would like to start the week over, it was a busy eight days where they played 10 games and finished with a 3-7 record over the span. UD dropped a pair of games on Saturday at Coe, losing the first by a 2-6 margin and dropping the second by a 1-5 mark. The Spartans return to action on Tuesday, April 21 when they host the Simpson College Storm on Senior Day.

In game one the Spartans out hit the victorious Kohawks 8-6, but left nine runners on base in the process. The host Kohawks jumped on the board quickly scoring six runs in the first two innings. UD responded with Megan Loes on the mound and she would shut them down for 4.1 innings not allowing a hit, walking one, and striking out four of the 14 Kohawk batters she faced. Offensively the Spartans ended with three doubles: Smith, Kuras, and Borden. Smith would finish 2-2 at the plate and Ainsley Billesbach would go 2-4 at bat.

In game two, Loes got the start and would go five innings allowing two runs before back-to-back doubles in the sixth which scored two more runs and Hannah Koerperich came in for relief. UD finished with eight hits and Smith was the lone double for UD in the loss. The Spartans out hit the Kohawks 8-4, but Coe made the most of the their timely hits for the 5-1 win, despite leaving eight runners on base. The sweep tied the Spartans with the Kohawks in the league race with 5-5 conference records along with their Tuesday opponent, the Simpson College Storm, who is also tied for third with a 5-5 mark.
