Women's Lacrosse's Four-Game Winning Streak Stopped by Vikings

ROCK ISLAND, Ill. - Breann Tjaarda scored the University of Dubuque women's lacrosse team's only goal as they saw their four-game winning streak snapped at the hands of Augustana, 22-1, on Friday afternoon.

The Spartans (6-3, 1-1 CCIW) forced 26 Augustana turnovers, but to no avail as the Vikings outshot UD 40-6. Tjaarda notched her 18th goal of the year less than a minute into the second half to put a stop to the Vikings (8-1, 1-0 CCIW) 12-0 first half start. Tjaarda led a UD attack that saw six shots, all from different players.

Defensively, Tjaarda tied Robyn Wittkopf with a team-high four ground balls while goalkeeper Chelsea Hawkins tallied 12 saves on the day.

The high-powered Augustana offense scored 18 or more goals for its third straight game.

UD drops to 0-3 all-time in the series.

The Spartans come back home and kick off a four-game homestand on Wednesday, April 8 at 7:00 p.m. versus rival Loras (4-6, 1-2 MWLC). The Duhawks beat Hanover, 9-8, in their last match on Thursday, April 2.
