Atwater Earns IIAC Athlete of the Week After National Best Throw

Sophomore Tanasha Atwater won her second shot put event outdoors and 10th of the season after tossing a national best last Saturday in winning the Norse Relays.

DUBUQUE, Iowa – Sophomore standout Tanasha Atwater threw an outdoor shot put national best (46-7.5), broke a Luther stadium record, and crushed her own school record en route to her second career Iowa Conference Female Athlete of the Week honor.

Atwater impressed in her second shot put win of the season at the Norse Relays on Saturday, April 9 and now leads the nation by nearly a foot and the Iowa Conference by nearly seven feet.

The defending Iowa Conference indoor shot put champion crushed her previous outdoor best of 44-0.75 by over two-and-a-half feet on her third throw of the day. Including indoor season, Atwater has won 10 of 12 shot put events in 2016, with her only two defeats coming at the Division III Indoor National Championships and the UW-SP Last Chance meet.
