DUBUQUE, Iowa – The Key City Clash is back as the Spartans (4-0 IIAC) and the Duhawks (3-1 IIAC), the two highest scoring teams in the Iowa Conference, position themselves for an IIAC title.

Senior Blaine Snitker, who leads IIAC with 41 tackles, and the Spartan defense will be tested against Loras pass offense, who is the NCAA national leader in passing yards (409.6 ypg), touchdowns (30), completions (247), and attempts (389).

UD looks to retain the key for the fifth-straight year in what will be an offensive showdown highlighted by a pair of stars on both sides. Freshman quarterback Nolan Baumhover can light it up after going 39-56 for 434 yds and eight touchdowns in 55-48 victory over Central on September 29. The Peosta, Iowa native leads the IIAC in all four major passing categories including touchdowns (18) and yardage (313.2 ygp) during IIAC play and has combined with senior Nik Schulte in tossing 30 touchdowns to seven receivers on the season.

The Spartans counter on the ground with Maurece “Mo” Herrion who leads the league in scoring with 10 rushing touchdowns, including eight in IIAC play. The first-year star has racked up 87+ yards and 2+ touchdowns in all four of his games this season.

Led by Chad Sadowski’s two interceptions, including his pick six last week, the Spartans have snagged six interceptions (second in IIAC play) and feature the league’s best passing defense at 164.5 yards per game. Buena Vista fell victim to UD’s stout defense after scoring just 13 points while being held to 161 yards passing a week ago.

Expect a shootout in a series where UD has outscored the Duhawks, 176-23, during their four-game winning streak. Something has to give as the Spartans ride a five-game winning streak and the Duhawks sport a three-game winning streak heading into this weekend’s Key City Clash.
